TORONTO, April 30, 2026 – Recently, the “Colorful Yunnan · Recommended by Overseas Media” Global Alliance of Chinese-Language Media China Tour delegation visited Xishuangbanna in Yunnan, conducting on-site visits to the Primitive Forest Park and the Tropical Flowers Garden to gain a deeper understanding of local ecological protection and the integration of culture and tourism.

At the Primitive Forest Park, members of the delegation were immersed in a tropical rainforest ecosystem and observed its rich plant and animal resources up close. The park has a forest coverage rate of 98.6 percent and is regarded as “a model of harmonious coexistence between humans and nature.” It is also an important showcase for Yunnan’s ecotourism. Along the way, towering trees, climbing vines, and layered vegetation structures combined to present a classic tropical rainforest landscape.
At the Tropical Flowers Garden, the delegation further learned about Xishuangbanna’s work in plant conservation and scientific display. The garden brings together more than 1,000 species of tropical and subtropical plants and is known as an “encyclopedia of tropical plants.” In addition to its ornamental value, it also serves functions in science education and ecological research.
Several Chinese-language media representatives said the visit not only deepened their understanding of Yunnan’s natural ecology, but also showed how the area is exploring a balance between ecological protection and tourism development. Through systematic planning and sustained investment, Xishuangbanna has gradually built a tourism industry system based on ecological resources while protecting biodiversity.
In recent years, Yunnan has continued to implement the principle of “ecology first, green development,” turning ecological strengths into development momentum through the construction of a national park system, improved ecological protection mechanisms, and the growth of a green tourism economy. As an important regional node, Xishuangbanna has developed a relatively mature path in rainforest protection, ethnic cultural presentation, and the integration of tourism industries.
The delegation said it will document Xishuangbanna’s natural beauty and development vitality from an all-media perspective, using text, images, video, and other formats to tell Yunnan’s story to overseas Chinese-language audiences and help further bring the “Colorful Yunnan” brand to the international stage.
Industry observers believe that as channels for international communication continue to expand, Chinese-language media are playing an increasingly prominent role in connecting China with overseas Chinese communities. Through on-the-ground reporting and in-depth coverage, such work not only helps enhance local image, but also provides more persuasive case support for spreading the idea of ecological civilization.
