MARKHAM’S TALENT SET TO TAKE STAGE ONCE AGAIN AT 2023 MARKHAM TALENT SHOWCASE

Markham, ON (November 8, 2023) – Markham Arts Council, in partnership with Ward 6 Councillor Amanda Yeung Collucci, is thrilled to announce the sequel to Markham Talent – Open Casting Call, a grand showcase of the finale talent. The Showcase’s presenting sponsors are Green Cities Communities Inc.

To take place on November 30th at the Flato Markham Theatre in Markham, the Showcase hopes to shine a spotlight on the remarkable performing arts talent in the region that merits wider recognition.

Markham Talent 2023 Open Casting Call was a huge success in terms of participation and turnout. Hundreds of talented performing artists spanning across Ontario, signed up to be a part of the massive inaugural event. The 2023 Markham Talent Open Casting Call culminated in an award ceremony on May 12th and13th at the Xinflix Auditorium, where winners across various performing art categories such as singers, songwriters, dancers, actors, and models were recognized.

“That’s what excites me. We give a platform, an opportunity, a way in…. for someone developing their talent that hasn’t been discovered yet”, said Honorary Chair for the evening and Markham Mayor Frank Scarpitti.

“It is heartening to know that there is so much talent within the City of Markham and beyond and that Markham is acting as a bridge for this talent and the industry.”

“I am amazed with such a wide pool of talent available in Ontario that was just waiting to be tapped,” said Ward 6 Councillor Amanda Yeung Collucci. “It was a delightful surprise to see the energy and creativity and the diversity of talent that was showcased in Markham Talent.
“At this Showcase, we are hoping to showcase a glimpse of what we experienced at the Open Casting Call to spread the message that dreams can come true.”

Highlights of the evening include special guest performances by Markham Mayor, Frank Scarpitti, Markham Councillor Amanda Yeung Collucci and Richmond Hill Councillor Simon Cui. The evening will also be graced by Celebrity Guest and Host Samantha Aucoin, of the Astrid and Lily Save the World fame.

Other confirmed performances include Nanami Li, a vocal powerhouse and the winner in the “16 and Under” category of the 2023 Open Casting Call. Known for her unparalleled breath control and emotive vocals, Truong Ng, Markham Talent Model Category winner, up and coming Model who never fails to stop the show with incredible conviction.

The Showcase will also feature experimental acts that venture beyond the conventional with one-of-a-kind performances, such as Adam Keung’s mime act that challenges traditional performance norms and a South Asian themed fashion show courtesy local Unionville boutique Silver Tulip.

“BOOKITTALENT Markham has signed numerous contestants from the Markham Talent Open Casting Call and they have been auditioning and working on set for commercials TV series movies music videos and live performances,” said Patricia Jarocz, Manager, BOOKITTALENT and the Head Judge of the Open Casting Call.

“The Markham Talent – Open Casting Call showcased the remarkable abilities of all ages in singing, dancing, acting and modeling. The Markham Talent Showcase taking place on November 30 shines the light on these exceptional performers and their talents.

Tickets for the show will be priced between $20 and $30, with proceeds going to Markham Arts Council to fund the arts and tourism. The Showcase is a multi-faceted entertainment experience that will feature an array of performances spanning acting, music, dance, and fashion.
