TORONTO, April 30, 2026 – The 2026 “Home of the World’s Tea Heritage · Capital of Black Tea” Yunnan Lincang (Fengqing) Black Tea Festival opened in Fengqing County on April 30. Representatives from industry associations, tea enterprises, experts, scholars, and guests from across China gathered to attend the tea-focused industry and cultural event.

The festival is jointly hosted by the China Tea Marketing Association, Yunnan Tea Marketing Association, Lincang Municipal People’s Government, and other organizers. Under the theme “Beauty in Harmony, Tea for the World,” the event features meetings, exhibitions, tasting sessions, and sales activities, including the opening ceremony, brand promotions, product displays, and supply-demand matchmaking.
During the festival, Fengqing also held a Dianhong Tea Promotion Ambassador appointment ceremony and released related brand promotion plans to further enhance the market influence of “Fengqing Dianhong Tea.” Tea companies and distributors also held exchanges to strengthen cooperation and connect industry resources with market demand.

At the opening ceremony, organizers said Fengqing is located along the 24th parallel north, a prime tea-growing belt. Supported by the ecological environment of the Lancang River basin, the region has developed high-quality Dianhong tea resources.

From its wartime history as a “tea for national salvation” to its development into a “world tea” sold in international markets, Dianhong tea has witnessed the growth of China’s tea industry and become an important link between domestic and global markets.

In recent years, Fengqing has continued to promote scale, branding, and modernization in its tea industry. In 2025, the county’s tea industry output value exceeded 10 billion yuan, with tea plantations covering 516,000 mu and benefiting more than 75,000 tea-farming households.

Organizers said the Black Tea Festival is not only a window to showcase Fengqing’s image, but also an important platform for industrial cooperation and opening up. Fengqing will continue to focus on quality improvement, brand building, technological empowerment, and market expansion to extend the Dianhong tea industry across the full value chain.

As the festival continues to grow, Fengqing is transforming from a traditional tea-producing area into a comprehensive tea industry hub integrating production, processing, trade, culture, and tourism. The regional influence of “Home of the World’s Tea Heritage · Capital of Black Tea” continues to expand. (End)
