Markham Talent Showcase and Awards Ceremony Announces Winners in Dance, Music, Acting and Modelling

Celebrating Ontario’s Best Performing Artists in 2024 Markham Talent Open Casting Call


MARKHAM, September 23, 2024:  
 It was a confluence of all creative genres at the Flato theatre in Markham be it music, dance, acting or modelling as artists were celebrated from varying disciplines.  Held on September 20, the 2024 Markham Talent Open Casting Call showcased the diverse talents of Ontario residents to a sold out audience.

The Markham Talent Open Casting Call aims to discover and celebrate local talent, providing a platform for emerging artists to gain recognition and confidence.  Participants included the 16 and under and the 17 and over age groups in each category.  The award winners were selected from a large pool of diverse talent who presented their art and participated in this Talent contest.  

“We are proud to provide a platform for our talented residents to shine,” said Markham Mayor Frank Scarpitti.  “The caliber of talent on display was truly impressive, and I congratulate all participants on their outstanding performances.”

Winners in the singers, songwriters, dancers, actors, models and other performing artist categories walked up to the podium amidst thunderous applause and were presented with a glittering trophy and certificates.  The biggest award winners in the Showcase and Awards ceremony received a trophy as well as $2000 in prize money.   Winners in the second and third prize winners received $300 and $200 respectively and the opportunity to get booked by talent agencies.  

“This event is a testament to Markham’s thriving arts scene,” said Amanda Collucci, Markham City Councillor.  “I’m delighted to see our youth and adults showcasing their skills and passion.”

The event, conceptualized and initiated by Markham Ward 6 Councilor Amanda Yeung Collucci is co-chaired by the Markham Arts Council (MAC).  

“We were blown away by the talent, creativity, and dedication displayed by all participants. The winners demonstrated exceptional skill and charisma,” said Renu Mehta, chair of MAC.  

The exemplary judging panel included Juno Board Member Aideen O Brien; Juno Awards Nominee Robert Laidlaw; Talent manager Patricia Jarosz; Talent Manager and Model Agent Cynthia Cully / Television/Film Casting Director Colleen Rush; Casting Director Sarah Sheps /Youth Judges Anthony Collucci and Maya Gamzu amongst many others.  (https://www.markhamtalent.ca/Judges)

All proceeds from this event will go towards helping Markham Arts Council drive economic growth in arts, culture, and tourism sectors within the City of Markham.
