Two Injured in Three-Vehicle Collision on Highway 401 in Scarborough

Toronto, July 22, 2025 A serious traffic collision involving three vehicles occurred early Tuesday morning on Highway 401 westbound near Neilson Road in Scarborough, sending two individuals to hospital.

According to the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), the incident took place at approximately 8:30 a.m. and involved a sedan, an SUV, and a transport truck. Witnesses at the scene reported that the driver of the sedan was briefly trapped inside the vehicle. Emergency crews responded swiftly and successfully extricated the driver.

The OPP confirmed that two people sustained minor injuries and were transported to hospital. Their conditions are not considered life-threatening.

As a result of the crash, the westbound express lanes of Highway 401 between Morningside Avenue and McCowan Road were temporarily closed, causing significant traffic delays. By mid-morning, the affected lanes were reopened and traffic flow resumed.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation. Police have not yet determined whether speeding, distracted driving, or other violations were involved. Authorities are urging any witnesses to contact Toronto Police to assist with the ongoing investigation.(LJI by Jingjia)
