Canada Sunshine School and Victoria Education Group Sign Strategic Partnership to Build Top-Tier Private School in Ontario

Toronto, ON – December 6, 2025 — Canada Sunshine School and Victoria Education Group formally signed a strategic partnership agreement on Saturday at the new headquarters of Victoria Education Group located in the Markham Education & Technology Park (7050 Woodbine Ave. #300). The ceremony marked a significant milestone for both institutions as they join forces to develop a top-tier Canadian private school.

More than 100 guests attended the celebration, including representatives from all three levels of government, community leaders, business executives, alumni families, and current students. Attendees included Markham Mayor Frank Scarpitti, Ontario MPP Billy Pang, Richmond Hill Deputy Mayor and Councillor Godwin Chan, Markham Councillors Isa Lee and Amanda Yeung Collucci, Richmond Hill Councillor Simon Cui, along with leaders from community associations and business organizations. Numerous alumni parents from Toronto, Vancouver, Shanghai, Beijing, and Taiwan were also present to witness the milestone moment.

Over ten Chinese-language media outlets covered the event. The ceremony was co-hosted by well-known community broadcaster Ran Guo, himself a former Sunshine School student, and teacher Ana from Sunshine Victoria School.

Leaders Praise the Vision Behind the Partnership

Guests delivered congratulatory remarks recognizing the long-term impact of both institutions. Mayor Frank Scarpitti, who has known founders Kevin Xu (Canada Sunshine School) and Maria Sun (Victoria Education Group) for many years, praised Sunshine School’s forward-thinking decision—made more than a decade ago—to prohibit mobile phones in classrooms, noting its alignment with Ontario’s recently strengthened digital-device restrictions in schools. He also expressed strong interest in the progress of Sunshine School’s long-planned 250,000-square-foot private boarding school campus in Markham.

MPP Billy Pang offered his congratulations in a unique musical tribute, prompting warm applause from the audience. Councillors Isa Lee and Simon Cui highlighted the significance of this partnership in strengthening education during Canada’s economic recovery period.

Community leaders, including association presidents and alumni parents, also spoke about their longstanding connections with the two founders, praising their leadership and dedication to student success.

Founders Share 26 Years of Educational Innovation

During the signing ceremony, Kevin Xu and Maria Sun reflected on their institutions’ long histories of innovation.

Since its establishment in 1999, Victoria Education Group has formed long-term recruitment partnerships with major banks, technology companies, government institutions, hospitals, and corporate employers—successfully helping tens of thousands of individuals secure employment or advance their careers. The Group has expanded its services from traditional career training to high school education, robotics and AI learning, and extracurricular programs including fencing and music. Earlier this year, Victoria Education Group relocated its headquarters to the Markham Education & Technology Park.

Canada Sunshine School, founded in 1999 and certified by the Ontario Ministry of Education as a private high school in 2003, has supported hundreds of thousands of students and families over the past two decades. The school has been recognized for integrating technological teaching tools long before they became widespread. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Sunshine’s early transition to online instruction benefited not only its own students but also many others in the broader community.

Mr. Xu also shared the origin of Sunshine School: from helping his wife prepare for graduate entrance exams to developing one of Toronto’s earliest English test-preparation institutions, which quickly grew to 160 students per class. This experience ultimately led to the founding of Canada Sunshine School High School.

A Shared Vision for a Premier Boarding School in Georgina

The two institutions officially announced the revival of their joint plan to build a premier private boarding school campus in Georgina, Ontario. The proposed 150-acre site includes:

over 100 hotel-style residential rooms

an 18-hole golf course

tennis courts

dining facilities

multiple academic and recreational amenities

These resources will be integrated to support the academic, physical, and emotional development of students, while providing working parents with enhanced peace of mind.

Celebration and Commitment to the Future

The ceremony concluded with the Sunshine–Victoria School choir performing the song “Memories”, joined by students and guests.

As the event drew to a close, both organizations reiterated their shared mission to provide high-quality education, foster innovation, and create pathways to global academic and career success. Prospective students are invited to apply for:

High school credit courses (full-time, after-school, online)

IELTS, SAT and other English test preparation

University admission guidance and Ivy League application planning

AP courses and competition coaching

Robotics and AI programs

Adult career training through Victoria Education Group

As an authorized College Board testing centre, Sunshine Victoria School also offers official SAT and AP examinations.

The ceremony ended with a group photo symbolizing optimism for the future. Both institutions expressed confidence that “tomorrow will be even brighter for Sunshine Victoria School and its students.”(LJI by Rita)
