ENTHRALLING PERFORMANCES WOW THE AUDIENCE AT THE INAUGURAL 2023 MARKHAM TALENT SHOWCASE

Markham, ON (December 2, 2023) – Markham audiences were captivated to an exciting variety performance showcase by winners and notable mentions of the Markham Talent – Open Casting Call, that took place earlier this year.

Titled Markham Talent Showcase 2023, the event was held at the Flato Markham Theatre on Thursday, November 30, 2023. It was SOLD OUT in two and a half weeks only. The Showcase involved performances by nearly 100 local artists and a variety of performances that included music, dance, drama and fashion.

A Markham Talent Production, the Showcase was held in partnership with between the Markham Arts Council, and Ward 6 Councillor Amanda Yeung Collucci as Executive Producer of the 2023 Showcase. Markham Mayor, Frank Scarpitti was the Honorary Producer of the Showcase.

“That’s what excites me. We give a platform, an opportunity, a way in…. for someone developing their talent that hasn’t been discovered yet”, said Markham Mayor Frank Scarpitti. “It is heartening to know that there is so much talent within the City of Markham and beyond and that Markham is acting as a bridge for this talent and the industry.”

The Showcase reflected Markham’s true diverse nature both in terms of the kind and type of performances that enthralled the audiences. The evening witnessed headliner Rob Laidlaw play with his band – a tribute to Janice Joplin and Jim Morrison, special performances by Mayor of Markham Frank Scarpitti, Ward 6 Markham Councillor Amanda Yeung Collucci, Ward 4 Richmond Hill Councillor Simon Cui and President and CEO of the Markham Board of Trade, Chris Collucci.
