On August 29, Bethune Memorial House National Historic Site in Gravenhurst, Ontario, marked the 50th anniversary of its official opening with a commemorative celebration. Nearly 100 guests from Canada and China, including representatives from Hebei Province, members of the Bethune family, local government officials, medical and academic professionals, and community representatives, gathered in Norman Bethune’s hometown to commemorate his legacy and reflect on the memorial site’s half-century history. The event was jointly organized by the Consulate-General of the People’s Republic of China in Toronto and Bethune Memorial House. Parks Canada officially lists the site as Bethune Memorial House National Historic Site and marked August 29 as its 50th anniversary celebration.
