Mark Carney Holds Rally in Scarborough, Ont

CCTVMEDIUM NEWS】On April 4, 2025, Mark Carney, the leader of the Liberal Party, held a campaign rally in Scarborough, Ontario. He expressed his gratitude to the supporters who participated in the rally, stressed the importance of this election, and delivered a strong speech on a series of relevant policies, U.S. trade and the future development of Canada.

On the issue of U.S. tariffs, he pointed out that this is a grave moment for the global economy and will also have a considerable serious impact on Canada, including the automotive industry, the aluminum industry and the steel industry, and harming the interests of employees and enterprises. He said that we’re not just going to take it, we are making a strong counterattack with anti-tariffs and doing everything possible to protect the Canadian industry.

In terms of taxation, he emphasized that a series of policy adjustments were made in his first week as prime minister, including:  Middle-class income tax cut; Eliminating the consumer carbon tax and capital tax increase; Removing the GST on homes for many first-time buyers. These practical policies enable families to save money every year, encourage builders and business innovators, and make more people, especially young Canadians, afford to buy a house.

Regarding the future plan, he mentioned the following points:

1. Build stronger Canadian armed forces to keep our nation safe, and to protect our sovereignty, including in the Arctic.

2. Recently in Windsor, unveiled a strategy for a more resilient made in Canada auto sector, and took vital steps to protect Canadian workers.

3. Set out a plan in Montreal to invest in new infrastructure for Canadian ports to diversify trade away from the United States.

4. Earlier this week in Vaughn,  announced an ambitious new strategy to double pace of new home construction.

Finally, Mark Carney thanked the Liberal Party candidates Jean Yip (Scarborough-Agincourt) and Gary Anandasangaree (Scarborough-Guildwood-Rouge Park) for participating in the campaign rally, and thanked all those who came to support him on the Friday night, advocated the creation of “a safe, a king, and clean Canada”.
