Nov20 2025,Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow and Councillor Neethan Shan (Scarborough-Rouge Park) officially opened the 94,000-square-foot Rouge Valley Community Recreation Centre in Joyce Trimmer Park today. The facility provides residents of all ages with a hub for health, learning, and community connection.

The design reflects extensive public consultation and the community’s diverse needs.

Part of the City’s Parks and Recreation Facilities Plan, the centre enhances access to affordable recreation. It is also Toronto’s first net-zero community aquatic facility and the first in Ontario to achieve the Canadian Green Building Council’s Zero Carbon Building Certification. Solar panels and heat pumps reduce greenhouse gas emissions and energy costs.

Mayor Chow said, “This centre offers something for everyone, bringing people together and supporting families. It reflects the sports, cultures, and passions that make Scarborough a vibrant community.”
