Southlake Plans New Advanced Care Centre in Georgina to Expand Health Services in Northern York Region

TORONTO, October 21, 2026 – Southlake Health recently announced plans to build a new Advanced Care Centre in Georgina, selecting developer Treasure Hill as its project partner. The facility is intended to expand access to health care services in northern York Region and southern Simcoe County.

The new medical centre is planned for the southwest corner of Woodbine Avenue and Old Homestead Road. Southlake began searching for a development partner in May and has now selected Treasure Hill. The next phase will involve further planning with the Town of Georgina and other relevant organizations.

The project remains in its early stages, and no construction start date, investment amount or complete list of medical services has been announced.

Southlake previously explained that Advanced Care Centres are designed to bring certain hospital and specialized medical services closer to local communities. Georgina officials have indicated that the future centre could include primary care, diagnostic services and outpatient specialty care, although the specific services have yet to be confirmed by Southlake.

Georgina’s population has continued to grow in recent years, and residents often travel to communities such as Newmarket for certain specialist and hospital services. During Southlake’s earlier community health needs assessment, residents also raised concerns about access to family doctors, specialist care, mental health services and the distances required to travel for medical appointments.

The new Georgina facility is part of Southlake’s 10-year Distributed Health Network plan. Under the current proposal, the existing Davis Drive campus will be redeveloped, a new acute-care hospital will be built in East Gwillimbury, and Advanced Care Centres will be established in Georgina and Bradford West Gwillimbury.

In April, the Ontario government provided $10 million in planning funding for the redevelopment of the Davis Drive campus and preliminary work on the new East Gwillimbury hospital. However, construction funding and a project timeline for the Georgina Advanced Care Centre have not yet been announced.

Southlake said that with the development partner and location now confirmed, the Georgina Advanced Care Centre will move into its next planning phase. Further details about the services to be offered and future construction arrangements will be released as planning progresses.
