SUSPECTS SOUGHT AFTER SEXUAL ASSAULT AT MARKHAM PAN AM CENTRE

Investigators with the York Regional Police Sexual Assault and Crimes Against Children Unit are seeking public assistance in identifying suspects after a sexual assault occurred at the Markham Pan Am Centre in the City of Markham.


On Tuesday, September 26, 2023, around 6:30 p.m., two teenage suspects approached the seven-year old victim in the male changeroom of the community centre. One of the suspects touched the victim in a sexual manner as he exited the washroom. The victim immediately reported the incident.


One of the suspects is described as a tall, white teenager, with short black hair in a mohawk style, wearing a black T-shirt, black shorts with white stripes, and black Puma slides with white lettering.

Investigators urge anyone who may recognize this person to contact police.

A sexual assault includes any non-consensual contact of a sexual nature. York Regional Police would like to encourage anyone who feels they may have been a victim of a sexual assault to come forward and report the incident to police. There is no statute of limitations for sexual offences and offenders can be prosecuted well after the date of the offence.
