Toronto Summerlicious Food Festival Returns Today! Mayor Olivia Chow Supports Local Dining by Learning to Make Sichuan Skewers at Chinese Restaurant

CCTVMEDIUM News】The 2024 Toronto Summerlicious Food Festival officially kicked off today. From July 5 to July 21, residents and visitors have the opportunity to enjoy a wide variety of delicious dishes across the city at affordable prices during this event.

Recently, Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow and City Councillor Nick Mantas visited a Chinese restaurant in Scarborough to promote the Summerlicious Festival. Under the guidance of the restaurant owner, Mayor Chow learned how to make Sichuan hotpot skewers and eagerly anticipated tasting her own creation. She expressed her excitement for the Summerlicious Festival and emphasized the importance of supporting small and medium-sized dining establishments.

“Summerlicious has always been a crucial driver in supporting the vibrant Toronto dining industry, and I am delighted to see one of the summer’s most popular events returning this year,” said Mayor Olivia Chow. “Toronto residents and visitors can take this opportunity to gather with family and friends, enjoy food across various communities, and embrace the summer. I look forward to meeting everyone!”

Residents can visit toronto.ca/summerlicious to check the participating restaurants and menus for the Summerlicious event. Lunch prices range from CAD 20 to CAD 55, and dinner prices range from CAD 55 to CAD 75. Restaurant reservations have been open since June 20. Additionally, consumers who scan the QR codes at participating restaurants and fill out the form have a chance to win two luxury economy round-trip tickets to Hong Kong.

Since 2003, restaurants participating in the Summerlicious event have served over 8 million meals, generating more than CAD 353 million in revenue for the Toronto dining industry. This year, over 200 restaurants are participating in the event, a 14% increase from last year. (LJI by Rudy)
