TORONTO, September 24, 2026 – Part of TTC Line 1 in North York will be closed to subway service this weekend. Starting at 11:59 p.m. on Friday, September 25, service between Finch and Sheppard-Yonge stations will be suspended until the end of service on Sunday, September 27.
During the closure, the TTC will operate shuttle buses between Finch and Sheppard-Yonge. Staff will also be available along the route to assist customers. Customers who need accessible travel support can speak with staff about Wheel-Trans service.
The TTC said the weekend closure is mainly for signal system work. During the subway closure, stations along the affected section will remain open, allowing customers to buy or reload PRESTO cards and connect with other surface transit routes.
The TTC said routine maintenance is usually scheduled after subway service ends, but some larger projects require more construction time and are completed through weekend closures or early evening closures.
Regular service between Finch and Sheppard-Yonge is expected to resume on Monday, September 28.
Line 1 will also have another construction arrangement next week. From September 28 to October 1, single-track operation will be in effect between Vaughan Metropolitan Centre and Finch West starting at 11 p.m. each night as the TTC carries out structural repairs.
Subway service will continue during that work, but trains may run less frequently and customers may experience delays of up to about 15 minutes. Some trips may also require customers to transfer at Finch West.
Customers travelling through the affected areas this weekend or next week in the evening should check the latest TTC service notices before leaving.
