Toronto, November 17, 2017 – In celebration of Canada’s 150th anniversary, the National Ethnic Press & Media Council of Canada (NEPMCC) hosted its annual awards ceremony at Toronto City Hall. The event recognized outstanding contributions in journalism and broadcasting, with 49 recipients selected from among over 800 member organizations nationwide, including individual journalists, print publications, and broadcast media professionals.

The Honorable Elizabeth Dowdeswell, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, attended the ceremony and extended her heartfelt congratulations to the award winners. She commended the dedication of ethnic media professionals in upholding journalistic excellence while actively serving diverse communities, thereby enriching Canada’s multicultural landscape.

Thomas Saras, President and CEO of NEPMCC, addressed the gathering, stating:

This celebration honors the significant contributions made by members of our communities and acknowledges the role of ethnic media in shaping our society, democracy, and multicultural identity. We must appreciate and support those who dedicate themselves to disseminating cultural diversity through journalism.”

At this prestigious event, CCTVmedium Inc. was honored with the Excellence in Broadcasting & Television Award, recognizing its contributions to the industry.

NEPMCC, which represents over 800 ethnic media outlets in nearly 100 languages, hosted its 38th annual awards ceremony this year. The event featured seven major award categories, covering a broad spectrum of media excellence, including Outstanding Community Service, Individual Achievement, Journalism, Best Magazine (Editorial & Design), Outstanding Newspaper, Excellence in Broadcasting & Television, and Digital Media.

This award highlights CCTVmedium’s commitment to delivering high-quality, culturally relevant programming and reinforces its role as a key voice in Canada’s ethnic media landscape.
