The Chongqing leg of the “2026 Overseas Chinese Media and Community Leaders’ Sichuan-Chongqing Tour — Focusing on the Construction of the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle” will officially begin on June 12. More than 20 leading overseas Chinese-language media outlets and 11 prominent overseas Chinese community leaders will take part in the visit, forming a dual approach of “media telling the story” and “community leaders connecting resources.”

The event is an important branch activity of the 2026 Belt and Road Overseas Chinese Cooperation and Development Conference. The Chongqing visit will cover Beibei, Rongchang, Bishan and Tongliang districts, focusing on open platforms,特色产业, industrial parks, business environment, urban development, leading enterprises, cultural and tourism integration, folk customs, cultural landmarks and beautiful countryside development.
Chongqing is the only municipality directly under the central government in western China and a core hub in the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle. Through this visit, overseas Chinese media representatives and community leaders will gain a deeper understanding of the strategic significance and practical achievements of the economic circle.
During the trip, participants will observe Chongqing and Sichuan’s progress in industrial complementarity, transport connectivity, resource sharing, market integration and public service coordination. The visit will also highlight Chongqing’s role in supporting industrial upgrading in western China, building inland channels for international cooperation, and driving regional development across southwest China.
The event will make use of the global communication reach of overseas Chinese-language media and the international influence and resource networks of community leaders. Through on-site visits, international reporting and overseas Chinese engagement, the activity aims to present the story of modern Chongqing’s high-quality development to global audiences.
A promotion event will also be held during the visit to explore investment and cooperation opportunities, support local enterprises and products in reaching international markets, and build bridges for global exchange and cooperation.
As a major central news organization and key international communication outlet, China News Service has long worked with overseas Chinese-language media to deepen cooperation and promote innovation in international communication. Since its launch in 2008, the “Overseas Chinese Media Tour” has been held for 18 consecutive years, bringing overseas Chinese media representatives to 31 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities across China.
The event is jointly organized by the Chongqing Municipal Overseas Chinese Affairs Office, the Chongqing Municipal Information Office, the Chongqing Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, the Sichuan Provincial Overseas Chinese Affairs Office, the Sichuan Provincial Information Office, the Sichuan Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, China News Service Chongqing Branch and China News Service Sichuan Branch.
