Free Mandarin Diabetes Workshop to Be Held in Markham on October 27

TORONTO, October 26, 2026 – Markham’s Aaniin Community Centre will host a free Mandarin-language diabetes education workshop tomorrow, October 27. A diabetes educator nurse and dietitian will provide residents with information about diabetes prevention and day-to-day management.

The workshop will take place from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Aaniin Community Centre, located at 5665 14th Avenue.

The session, titled “Diabetes 101,” will be presented by staff from the Adult Diabetes Education Centre at Markham Stouffville Hospital, including a Certified Diabetes Educator nurse and a dietitian.

Topics will include ways to reduce the risk of developing diabetes and how people already diagnosed with the condition can manage their health through diet, physical activity, medication use and stress management.

The workshop will be conducted in Mandarin, allowing Chinese-speaking residents to access health information directly and ask health care professionals questions about diabetes management.

The City of Markham has listed the event as a free community program under course number 374304. Residents interested in attending can check registration availability through the city’s community programs website.

Aaniin Community Hub also regularly works with community and health organizations to provide local residents with health programs, seniors services and other community activities.

Later this week, on the evening of October 29, Aaniin Community Hub will host another workshop focusing on cancer screening. The session will introduce Ontario’s screening programs for breast, cervical, colorectal and lung cancers.
