Selfie-seeking film buffs get ready: an influx of A-listers is expected to arrive in Toronto with their new movies

[CCTVmedium – Yuhong Report] Toronto – TIFF 2025 is here and some of Hollywood’s biggest stars will be in Toronto to premiere their newest films to world. Here’s a look at who’s in town for the festival and which movies they’re debuting.
ANGELINA JOLIE

Angelina Jolie will be here for the premiere of her new film “Couture“, which is the latest from French writer-director Alice Winocour. The film is set in the Parisian fashion industry and follows Maxine (Jolie) as she arrives in Paris to helm a video for a fashion event while she navigates personal battles. The film premieres on Sunday, Sept. 7 at the Princess of Whales Theatre.
KEANU REEVES

Audiences can catch Canadian actor Keanu Reeves as he comes to the festival for a premiere of the comedy “Good Fortune”. Written and directed by Aziz Ansari. Keanu Reeves in the role of Gabriel, an angel who usually prevents people from texting while driving. However, Gabriel’s activities take a drastic turn when he decides to help Arj, a down-on-his-luck man, as he tries to convince the latter that money cannot solve all his problems.
SCARLETT JOHANSSON

Scarlett Johansson is set to walk the red carpet as her film “Eleanor the Great” makes its North American premiere. Johansson’s directorial debut film stars June Squibb as Eleanor (Squibb), as the title character Eleanor Morgenstein, a 90-year-old woman trying to rebuild her life after the death of her best friend, pretend to be a holocaust survivor and soon find herself in a lot of trouble.
MATTHEW MCONAUGHEY

Catch Matthew McConaughey on the red carpet for the world premiere of “The Lost Bus“. The film, directed by Paul Greengrass, is a white-knuckle ride through one of America’s deadliest wildfires as a wayward school bus driver (Matthew McConaughey) and a dedicated school teacher (America Ferrera) battle to save 22 children from the terrifying inferno. A dramatic mystery based on events that transpired during the California Camp Fire. The film will premiere on Sept. 5 at the Princess of Whales Theatre.
CHARLI XCX

Who said you could only see Hollywood stars at TIFF? Pop star Charli xcx will take to Toronto for the world premiere of “Erupcja“, directed by filmmaker Pete Ohs. Charli XCX stars alongside Polish actress Lena Gora in the film as the British tourist Bethany, who tries to ditch an incoming marriage proposal by her boyfriend Rob (Will Madden) while on vacation in Poland.
DUSTIN HOFFMAN

“Tuner”, premieres September 8 at the Toronto International Film Festival. Directed by acclaimed documentarian Daniel Roher, “Tuner” follows the story of Niki White (Leo Woodall), a gifted piano tuner whose extraordinary hearing draws him into a dangerous heist world. Alongside Dustin Hoffman as his mentor, the film blends drama, romance, and thriller elements with Bates’ score weaving the sonic tension that drives the narrative.
SYDNEY SWEENEY

Sydney Sweeney makes her return to TIFF for the world premiere of “Christy“. The film, directed by David Michod, chronicles the life of women’s boxing pioneer Christy Martin’s fierce story of self-actualization in the face of terrifying adversity. The heart of this film lies with Sweeney, who disappears into this role of a woman who confronted many demons as she fought her way to the top.
DWAYNE JOHNSON

The famous “The Rock” will also be coming to town. Dwayne Johnson is set to attend the North American premiere of his film, “The Smashing Machine”. The biography, directed by Benny Safdie, tells the powerful story of MMA and UFC pioneer, Mark Kerr. It’s a consistently idiosyncratic and candid look at a working-class athlete with a complicated romantic relationship and a crippling opioid addiction.
Among the other stars set to attend is Ralph Fiennes, Jodie Foster, Natalie Portman, Ryan reynold, Idris Elba, Daniel Craig, Paul Mescal, and Kerry Washington. From Sept. 4-14, Toronto is pulling out the red carpet for hundreds of stars and filmmakers as they premiere their highly-anticipated work right here in the city. Each year, the list of internationally-renowned celebs gets bigger and brighter, and this year is one that you won’t forget.
