TORONTO, October 14, 2026 – A water main break occurred near Kennedy Road and McNicoll Avenue in Scarborough early on October 14, causing part of the road to collapse. As a result, some northbound lanes on Kennedy Road are closed, and the 43 Kennedy bus is temporarily diverting.

Toronto police said the report came in at about 4:31 a.m. Water from the break later damaged the road surface, creating a collapsed area near Kennedy Road and affecting part of the asphalt. No injuries were reported.
Northbound Kennedy Road is currently closed near McNicoll Avenue. City crews have arrived on site to deal with the water main issue and inspect the damaged roadway.
For TTC service, the northbound 43 Kennedy bus is diverting via McNicoll Avenue, Milliken Boulevard and Passmore Avenue before returning to its regular route.
Kennedy Road is one of Scarborough’s major north-south roads. The closure may affect nearby residents, as well as commuters travelling to work or school around McNicoll Avenue. Travel times may also increase during the morning and afternoon rush hours.
As of the morning of October 14, the City had not announced a specific time for the road to fully reopen. Crews will need to complete water main repairs and confirm that the road is safe before reopening it.
Drivers travelling through the area may want to use alternate routes. Passengers taking the 43 Kennedy bus should allow extra travel time and check the latest TTC diversion updates.
